MADCAP, the jazzed-up, funked-out, psychedelic ooze that is taking over the bodies of those who are conscious of 'the flow', was formed in the fall of 1998 from the underground jazz scene of Carbondale, Illinois. It began when keyboardist Christopher Miller and guitarist Zacc Harris met in one of Carbondale's typical nights of drunken stupor and decided to put together a group that would not be limited by style or form, to make music for music's sake. Soon after, bassist Josh Dix and drummer Brian Faulkner joined the picture, and MADCAP was born. Immediately, the band began straddling worlds of jazz, funk, rock, salsa, bluegrass, and anything else that would play host to its appetite for creation. In April of 1999, MADCAP put forth their first recording effort, Four Ninety-Nine, which consisted of four studio tunes and four live tracks. But the soul of the band lies within their live performances. The band has recently added percussionist Patrick Sadler to fill the void left by Brian Faulkner's departure, and has begun to delve deeper into the universe of music, recording its first full-length studio album, 'Into the Nebula', in March of 2000.
